As an elite fashion blogger, my day usually consists of:
- Yoga on the roof of my tax-deductible green townhouse, obvs.
- A jog downstairs for my green juice as recommended by Tracy Anderson via Goop. Gwenyth doesn't do fiber. Neither do I.
- A quick bubble bath in my jetstream tub using some gifted L'Occitane milk bath products...nothing major or leisurely, because my personal trainer will be ringing my bell.
- Hour workout with the trainer.
- Quick shower. (I hate drinking water, so I just absorb it now.)
- Flipping through Vogue, Lucky, Marie Claire and W for style inspiration. A tedious comb through of Cosmo for the educational articles. (Did you know there's a war on women!?)
- Adding clippings to both my inspiration sketchbook and the OOTD request wall. The latter is for my personal assistant to refer to when requesting gifts from PR.
- Emails
- Twats on twitter.
- Facebooking.
- One instagram post per hour of me in various life situations that most people never experience. (This one time, I found a pair of vintage Ray Bans left on the floor at a boutique. People would kill to see me in them.)
- A quick trip to the supplement shop followed by a jet set trip to Zara, H&M, J Crew, and Opening Ceremony for window shopping. Walgreens for tampons. (<--- for some reason I still can't get a sponsor, so I still pay for these monthly. Arghhh.)
- A run through some vintage shop a friend recommended to me. Vintage is so big these days. Old is the new black.
- Back home to coordinate my trip to Paris for fashion week. Note to self: need to order extra LV luggage. Ran out of room for gifts last trip.
- Dinner with the girls at Nobu.
- Place orders for some sale items for next week's haul video which will of course be linked to full price affiliate items. God bless America.

ReplyDeleteI agree that we live in a world that in the moment is exploding of too many things and that something should change. Re-designing, recycling, thrifting- this is the key for the future. Btw, you look awesome in this orange skirt! :)
ReplyDeleteAndrea I like your point about re-designing. I've never quite seen it articulated that way, but its true. I don't know why the majority of fashion bloggers scoff at recycling as if its still some tree hugger granola mentality. I personally would follow Love Aesthetics diys over purchasing new Anthropologie dresses as recommended by Atlantic Pacific any day. The CEO of Anthro clearly states that he sends the designers to just knock off thrift and flea markets anyway. So why give our hard earned money to them instead of saving waste?
DeletePS- thanks by the way! but its bright red ;)
I really got a kick out of this post, particularly because I embarked on a similar challenge to myself early this year - albeit mainly just to do with fashion and not so much an eco lifestyle. Honestly, there have been so many days that I`ve wanted to chuck it all. Today is one of them. Why? Because some of those little convenient luxuries are part of what makes life pleasant if you're not an elite anything and have to live a normal life. You know, like being able to go to Zara and buy a whole outfit instead of scrimping for one pair of better quality jeans. Sigh. I hear you. It's a battle. Most of the time I think it's worth it, though. And if it helps, you do look fabulous :)

Why thanks Cee. Love a fashion blogger with a good sense of humor! And funny enough, one doesn't have to journey down the road of "going green" to realize they are embracing an eco lifestyle. So even though you started the year off challenging your fashion choices, trying to curb consumption is already saving tons of waste, fuel, etc.
DeleteBut I'm more curious about the mentality of infact living a pleasant life full of little "luxuries" whilst not being a socialite, trust fund heir, or junk consumer. I know fast fashion feels like our cup is always more than half full due to the price points and convenience. I'll look into this for a future post, because it surely is a battle these days. Thanks for your comment! xx
Good luck with your challenge! My wardrobe is minimalist because I've threw it out and am starting again! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I did exactly that. Well, throw out as in donate half and ebay the rest. What made you chuck yours? Was minimalism just an effect or the cause motive?
DeletePS- good luck with the new blog ;)
It was mainly because I lost 15lbs and dropped down to a UK 10. Everything fell off me so I decided to start again and only buy what I love. My last round of decluttering was really cathartic and now I only have things in my closet that fit me and work with something else. I didn't exactly throw them out, I donated most of them. Thanks for your good wished re my new blog :)
DeleteThe elite fashion blogger list is hillarious!
ReplyDeleteAnd sadly, I think more than half of it might even be the reality of some bloggers
many hugs
*thank you so much for your thoughtful comment on my capsule collection. it is honestly one of the most meaningful comments ive ever received on my blog, almost shed a tear to be compared with my idols Martin an Yohji.
Oh you're so welcome Ivania because I meant every word... and tickled that you enjoyed the post!
DeleteI love this post...I've tried so many times to minimize and cut out fast-fashion and it's just , well, hard. Very hard. I'm lucky in that I've always had a passion for thrifting and I don't feel too bad about buying a Forever 21 shirt from my local Value Village but the temptation to avoid is the big chain stores is very great. I'm losing when it comes to Zara I'm afraid. Aside from all, this just make me laugh. And I sort of needed that on a Friday when it's 6 pm (!!!) and I'm somehow still at work. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteCourtney ~ http://sartorialsidelines.com
Courtney, how dare you read blogs while at work! hehe
DeleteI totally hear you. I find it strange that so many gals still have trouble resisting the urge to shop at chains since I'm now on the other side and find them completely repulsive. I think all it takes going to only boutiques for a while to realize that chains suck. Then find boutiques that you can afford, mix that with vintage and thrifting, and voila. Cure part 1 ;)
Quality post! A few years ago I decided that I wanted to fill my wardrobe with a few quality items I liked, rather than with hangers full of stuff. So far I think things have progressed nicely, albeit still a bit messy. I did walk around looking silly for a while before I was able to form my own style and get my hands on those few cohesive items that brought my wardrobe together. I get enjoyment from putting on my favourite pieces multiple times a week, so in that respect I think it's worth it. I agree with Cee above that having little luxuries in life makes everyday happenings more enjoyable. Suffering through tough exams and long working hours is not as bad when you can really feel good in what you're wearing that day. Good luck with your experiment, I know it'll be worth it in the end.
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting on my blog! I am so glad to have discovered yours too, you are a fantastic writer. Will definitely browse some of your older posts once I get home later today!
Hey Mia, loved your comment! So proud of you. Does that sound too motherly? Ah, what the heck. I am. And I know the feeling of going through that transition stage. I walk around looking silly STILL, like half a year later haha. I'm just determined to make a change is all. Thanks for reading!

No giveaway comments darling.
Deletehaha was literally crying with laughter at this!! It's such a hard things to do when there are so few popular ethical fashion companies in the industry. I've got a new client though who specialises in environmentally friendly, ethically sourced clothing! As soon as their branding is done and the site goes live, I'll let you know so you can check them out... that's if you haven't relapsed!!
ReplyDeleteHannah xx
ps. thanks for the lovely comment RE branding and renaming my blog. It was really interesting to hear the thoughts of other bloggers!
Hey Hannah! Oh you lucked out then, working for an eco brand. Please do share when you get a chance. I want to do an ethical shopping page since I get so many emails and comments about where to shop to make the switch ;)
DeleteAnd you're welcome!
